Yiddish
I fell in love with Yiddish when I started working as an actor at the Yiddishpiel – the National Yiddish Theatre of Israel. It was a delight to get to know the old Yiddish actors, listening to their stories off-stage, while absorbing their authentic Yiddish and special style of acting on-stage. With time, I’ve deepened my knowledge of the language, played main roles on the Yiddish stage, and directed and adapted Yiddish writings for the stage. As an actor-singer, I’ve performed at many venues, including in Paris, Warsaw, Bucharest, Montreal, and Tel Aviv, with a wide repertoire of Yiddish songs. I’ve collaborated with many Klezmer music bands. In my Yiddish performances I combine songs, comic monologues, and stories about the Yiddish cabaret theatre.
